As our first 2 film recordings didn’t have enough variety of shots in we had to film for a third time. This time we used Matt and Naomi in our film. We drew up the storyboards and followed them to make our film as good as possible. We decided to use these two people as they are good at acting and also quite natural. I wrote a script for the actors to follow, this made it allot easier when we were filming as it went smoothly. The filming took about an hour to do as we took many of the same shots so we had enough to be able to choose the right one for our film.
Shots
Camera Shots are very important in films as they give the audience a look into the film. If a high angle shot was used, it would mean we would be looking down onto an actor. This could be from someone’s point of view showing he is more important than the other character. We used a huge variety of shots including, over the shoulder, close-up, long shot, medium shot and a few others. I like the way that the shots managed to show the best of the scene, by choosing the right shot to use, the scene becomes better and more enjoyable to watch.
Camera Movements
We also used many camera movements such as Pan, Zoom and Tilt. This enabled the camera to have a better view of the people in the scene and also a perspective of what’s happening. When Matt walked around the corner instead of having 4 or 5 separate cut shots, we used a tripod to pan our camera round to follow him round into the room. Also when the two actors were talking we used a slight pan to follow the conversations so that it flowed. We also used zoom to pick up the reactions and facial features of the characters and this brought the audience and the characters closer.
My Role
My role in the film making was part of the directing and my main role was the editing. It took about 2 hours all in all to get the right shots in the right place. As we made about 4 or 5 different shots for each scene I chose the best ones to put in. The ones with the best lighting, best acting and how still the camera was, these were the things I thought of when choosing the different shots. I used ULead Video Studio to edit the film; this was easy to use and fun to do. I enjoyed editing the film, even though it was quite time consuming.
